About Us

Brown Athletic Division is a youth and family outreach organization that specializes in fitness training. Brown Athletic Division is centrally located in Charlotte, NC but does have a presence in other parts of the southeast. Brown Athletic Division was established in February of 2011 by Shaun Brown who saw a growing need for more positive influences and mentors in today’s society. Shaun, who grew up playing basketball and was eventually, offered a 4-year athletic scholarship to play collegiately, felt that the learning of a sport housed valuable lessons that could easily be translated to today’s youth. Core values such as hard work, diligence, commitment and teamwork are just a few of the principles that Coach Brown felt sports contained. B.A.D. strives to introduce and instill those same principles in its youth as well as the families and communities it touches. Since its beginning in 2011 with only 1 youth, B.A.D. has witnessed tremendous transformation and growth and as of July 2012, B.A.D. has served over 100 youth and teenagers in its various programs. B.A.D. wants to be a pillar in the communities in which it serves. As we continue to grow, we’re reaching out to more and more children in different neighborhoods and introducing ourselves to new supporters across the country.

So far to date, B.A.D. has implemented its programs in various recreation centers, schools, churches and even AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) programs. B.A.D. is serious about making a positive impact in the community and strives to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens and student-athletes. B.A.D. is an organization that seeks to help strengthen the entire family. B.A.D. takes a holistic approach to helping youth and their families by adhering to our mission and vision.

Mission and Vision:

Mission: To strengthen the bodies, minds and spirits of youth and their families.
This is achieved in three ways:

  1. Teaching the fundamental principles of basketball, its skills and teamwork.
  2. Equipping students with necessary life skills to achieve success in everything they do.
  3. Sharing knowledge and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Vision: To create awareness about a healthy lifestyle and its benefits, while promoting a good strong work ethic both in and outside of the classroom.  Helping youth reach that next level in basketball development, and to help build tomorrow’s leaders while preparing them for life.
